CONNECTION FOR TRANSFORMATION
The CVFAC Expo is excited to announce the SHIPHT Youth Opportunity Accelerator; a business, entrepreneurship, tech, and public sector leadership curriculum, aiming to introduce underrepresented youth to career opportunities with mentorship, experiential learning, business fundamentals and much much more!
With the arrival of Covid-19 we know marginalized populations, populations of color, lower socioeconomic status and/or who lack access to healthcare are disproportionately affected by the virus. Higher numbers of these populations tend to work in service industries that were marked as essential personnel, thus resulting in more loss and illness among these groups. SHIPHT serves as an an intentional approach, steeped in equity and access to reduce disparity among these communities. We plan to wrap participants in a comprehensive learning environment to nurture a growth mindset and create unforgettable experiences. SHIPHT aims to be the pivotal “Moment” or series of moments that lead to career transformation and long term goal development for the next generation of game-changers. SHIPHT consist of four key phases: Pitch Camp, The Opportunity Accelerator, experiential learning and continued mentorship.
Additionally, we are excited to announce SHIPHT UP, an academic and experiential learning program for 5th - 10th grade students to prepare students for academic, personal, and professional achievement to include participating in SHIPHT, utilizing a "students as teachers" approach.
